Join us as he shares his family history from 1590 France to the 1960’s in the Judice community of Lafayette Parish, Louisiana.
Marlon Bourque is a native of Louisiana born into a French Acadian community in rural Lafayette Parish. In 1983 when he lost his mother at age 50, he started having questions about his heritage as he went through his mother’s personal effects. This began his information campaign to answer all questions about "Where did we come from?" In June of 1984, while still stationed with the Navy in Groton, Connecticut, he journeyed to Nova Scotia for the Pope's visit and Congrès du Monde Francophone-Rogersville, a village in New Brunswick. This trip furthered his passion, and he began his research through libraries, court houses, churches property, and marriage indexes. Since that time, he has attended Congrès Modial in 1992, 2000, and 2004 and has gained invaluable information to complete nearly 15 generations of Bourg/Bourque genealogy 1930-1590. Since that period, his research has expanded to family historians for three family reunion events, and he has completed a website "traynhamreunion.com" for a South Carolina reunion.
