Veterans on Parade

Sunday, November 10, 2019

Please join the West Baton Rouge Museum as we observe Veterans Day on November 10, 2019. The day will begin with the 14th annual Veterans on Parade event at 1:30 PM, and will conclude with a reception at the West Baton Rouge Museum.

The 14th Annual “Veterans on Parade” will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2019.  This traditional Port Allen parade was the first parade honoring veterans in south Louisiana and is a tribute to all veterans who have served and all military who are serving this great country.

Placement on floats and beads will be made available in advance for any veteran wishing to ride in the parade. For veterans who would like to watch the parade, a special covered seating area will be available on the lawn of the West Baton Rouge Museum. All parade floats will stop at that location to salute and honor those veterans.

The parade will begin at 1:30 p.m.  rolling down North Jefferson Ave and will conclude at the West Baton Rouge Museum for a special Veterans Memorial Ceremony honoring all veterans and the Grand Marshall of the 2019 Veterans on Parade. Following the ceremony, all visitors and special guests will be invited to enjoy a reception, live music performed by Ole Time Music Jam participants, and the exhibit, “One Half of the People” on loan from the National Archives.  Drawing on National Archives’ records, “One Half of the People” illustrates the involvement of American women to secure their essential citizenship rights. The ceremony and festivities that follow are FREE and open to the public.

“We hope that everyone will join us in showing support of this country, our military and all those veterans that proudly supported and served this great county,” said Garry Hubble, Parade Chairperson.
